Culture
St. James is first mentioned in 1370 and was rebuilt into its present form in 1885. Between the church and the former inn stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk; it was consecrated in 1755.
The former inn has a symmetrical street façade with a W-shaped floor plan and two adjoining gates. It was built around 1720 by Václav Vejmluve, the abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Žďár nad Sázavou, based on a design by Jan Blažej Santini. The former inn building, the two gates, and the property were added to the state register of cultural monuments in 1963.
At the end of July, after July 25, Ostrov nad Oslavou celebrates a traditional St. James church fair.
