Radostín Nad Oslavou: Hotels and Accommodation

The complex of the Parish Church of St. Bartholomew is the most important historic building in Radostín nad Oslavou and at the same time the only notable monument in the village listed in the state register of immovable cultural monuments.

Culture and History

The complex consists of the parish church building, a detached tower, a detached chapel, and a masonry enclosure wall. The original early Gothic church complex was rebuilt in the late Baroque style in the 1770s. During the reconstruction, the nave was extended by approximately one third and the tower was raised by the addition of its present bell stage.

The group of three crosses on Šibeniční vrch north of Radostín nad Oslavou forms a Calvary scene; together with the mature trees, it is a distinctive landscape feature. Švomův Mill lies east of the centre, by the bridge on the road to Kněževes. The mill building was already standing in Radostín nad Oslavou around 1510.

Landscape and Waterways

Radostín nad Oslavou lies in a gently rolling landscape of slopes and fields, bounded on the horizon by forests. Streams flow through the valleys, and numerous ponds were built along them in the past. The Oslava is the largest watercourse associated with Radostín nad Oslavou.

Cultural Life and Events

The Becheráček amateur theatre group was officially founded in Radostín nad Oslavou in 1911; its tradition continues to this day. The group regularly stages its premiere in March. The six further performances are attended by around 1,200 spectators from Radostín nad Oslavou and the surrounding area.

At the Tvořivé večery events, participants create arrangements from dried and fresh plants, wire and beadwork, batik, embroidery, crochet, sheep-wool felting, and various decorations, among other things. Since 2013, a Christmas exhibition has been prepared every year during Advent, and since 2016 an Easter exhibition has also been held. Proceeds from admission fees and the sale of the products are used for charitable purposes.
