Ruda: Hotels and Accommodations

The foundation stone for the present-day Church of St. Giles was laid on May 25, 1792; the church was consecrated on September 4, 1795. Four bells hang in its tower, including one from 1516 and one from 1709. The church is considered the most significant historical monument in Ruda. Next to it stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War.

The first recorded mention of Ruda dates from 1353; at that time, the settlement was called Hruda. Historical iron ore mining is represented by mining hammers on the municipality's coat of arms and flag.

Next to the Holíkův pond, which now serves as a fire reservoir, stands a reconciliation cross stone dating from 1812 and measuring 71 × 36 × 20 cm. The pilgrimage to St. Giles in Ruda takes place annually. During the St. Giles pilgrimage weekend, people in traditional dress participated in the preparations.

A traditional nativity scene in Ruda has been displayed at the same location in front of the church for decades. During the Christmas season, visitors can see illuminated nativity scenes on a walk through Ruda in the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk and in the window of the cultural center's library.

Cycle Route 5240 runs through Ruda, connecting Bohdalec, Křižanov, and Tasov. A blue-marked hiking trail also passes through Ruda's cadastral area, with two specified route options: via Jabloňov and Tasov to Budišov, or via Ořechov and Osová Bítýška to Velká Bíteš.

The “Zlaté kolo Vysočiny” is a recurring cycling tour for unregistered cyclists of all ages. The cycling tour starts and ends in Ruda near Velké Meziříčí. Free cycling maps are available at the local U Malců inn.

Koní hora, Duforty, and Ambrožný are mountains in the immediate surroundings of Ruda. Horka is a mountain in the surroundings of Ruda.
