Sklené: Hotels and accommodations
Sklené is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and in the highest part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The European watershed between the Elbe and Danube also runs near Sklené.
Nature
The Olšina u Skleného Nature Reserve protects alluvial forest ecosystems, meadows and pastures, Nardus grasslands, as well as fen and transition mires. The Lemperský stream rises from a spring in Sklené. The mountains Žákova hora, Devět Skal, Světka and Rosička are located in the vicinity of the village.
History and village character
The first written mention of Sklené dates back to 1407. A stone cross below the chapel bears the year 1832. The name Sklené is interpreted as referring to a settlement of glassmakers that was established here near the vanished Bratroňovice farmstead. Sklené also has a fire station.
Winter and cross-country skiing
There are cross-country ski trails near Sklené heading towards Světnov, Škrdlovice and Velké Dářko. The connection between Sklené and Tři Studně is usually groomed only for classic cross-country skiing because of a section through the forest.
