Nížkov: Hotels and Accommodation
Nížkov combines architectural and cultural heritage from several centuries with cycling connections and places along the Sázava. Highlights include the Church of Saint Nicholas with the adjacent ossuary, historic wayside shrines and crosses, as well as paths through the municipality’s surroundings.

Culture
The Church of Saint Nicholas in Nížkov was built around 1245 in the Early Gothic style on the site of a wooden church. In 1753–1754, it was rebuilt in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles; a Baroque nave was added at that time. Inside is a wooden Renaissance baptismal font dating from around 1600.
The Nížkov ossuary is located next to the western façade of the Church of Saint Nicholas and dates from 1709. It contains four stacks of skulls and bones from almost 8,000 people. Studies of seven samples from the Nížkov ossuary found that six date from the Middle Ages, including the 13th century and the period from 1307 to 1363.
The wayside shrine on the road to Sázava dates from 1748 and is an example of folk Baroque. A similar wayside shrine stood in Nížkov from 1741; today, a marble cross stands on the original base of the destroyed shrine. In front of the old Nížkov rectory there is also a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1869.
Several stone crosses stand in the surroundings of Nížkov, most of them dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Červený mlýn has a functioning water turbine in the vicinity of Nížkov for generating electricity.
Cycling Routes
The municipality of Nížkov offers a publication with tips for trips around Nížkov on foot and by bicycle, entitled “Okolím Nížkova na kole a pěšky”. It is available at the municipal office.
The municipal excursion recommendation “Rozhledna Rosička – cyklo-stezka 19 – bukové arboretum” is a 21.5-kilometre circular cycling route from Nížkov via Rosička, Sázava, Ronov, Olešenka and Buková back to Nížkov. The cycling route leads to the 645-metre-high Rosičský kopec, where there is a lookout tower.
Cycling Route 4336 Dobronín–Nížkov–Sázava runs through the cadastral area of the municipality of Nížkov and connects Dobronín, Nížkov and Sázava.
Geographical Location
The stone bridge over the Nížkovský potok is located 100 metres below the village square in the direction of Polná and was built in 1889.
Žlutá skála is a natural formation on the left bank of the Sázava, about 1.5 kilometres upstream from Nížkov railway station.
