Nová Ves U Světlé: Hotels and Accommodation
Near Nová Ves u Světlé, the Sázava River and a local stream have formed a deeply incised valley with steep slopes. At the same time, the first documented mentions of the village date back to the 1370s and are connected with the history of Lipnice Castle.

Landscape and Water
There are seven ponds in Nová Ves u Světlé and its immediate surroundings: Horní rybník, Dolní rybník and Říhovka directly in the village, as well as Dvořákův rybník, located behind the football pitch near Nová Ves u Světlé, Hluboký rybník, also known as Wagnerův rybník, and two Zástěrova ponds near the Radost leisure facility. Since 1959, storks have returned every spring to the chimney of the distillery in Nová Ves u Světlé. From spring until the end of summer, it serves as their habitat, where they regularly raise young.
History and Memorial Sites
At Ředkovský rybník, which is located in the immediate vicinity of Nová Ves u Světlé and is used for swimming, a cast-iron cross commemorates the drowning of the miller Václav Nečil and a boy. Another monument commemorates the abolition of forced labour and was erected to mark the 50th anniversary of its abolition.
The monument to those who fell in the First World War is a granite monument with a lion and names 19 fallen men from Nová Ves u Světlé. The lower chapel is also known locally as Špálova Chapel, while the upper chapel is also known as Dubnova Chapel.
Getting There
Bus services connect Nová Ves u Světlé with the district town and other municipalities. The village does not have a direct railway connection; railway stations in Horní Pohleď, approximately 2 km away, or in Světlá nad Sázavou, approximately 3 km away, are available for passenger and freight transport.
Routes and Events
A red-marked long-distance or ridge hiking route runs through Chřenovice, Ledeč, Světlá nad Sázavou, Nová Ves u Světlé and Okrouhlice. Cycle route 4155 leads from Vilémov via Habry, Nová Ves u Světlé and Lipnice to Humpolec.
In 2021, Nová Ves u Světlé hosted the 11th traditional Bramboriáda, which already included a competition for the best potato pancake. An afternoon of entertainment is planned there for 29 August 2026, featuring a competition for the best potato pancake, further potato competitions, bicycle acrobatics, activities for children and a dance event in the evening.
