Stonařov: Hotels and accommodations

In the center of Stonařov stands the complex of St. Wenceslas Church. The church is a plastered, single-nave solid structure with a rectangular floor plan and dates from the 13th century.

Culture and history

On a hill northeast of Stonařov stands the chapel on Kalvárie hill, with its Stations of the Cross. The access path is on the southeastern side of the site. The older access path is complemented by stone Stations of the Cross.

In the southwestern part of the former cemetery in Stonařov is Kalvárie Chapel, a Baroque niche chapel featuring a depiction of the Crucifixion. The small Stonařov Meteorite Museum is dedicated to the meteorite fall over Stonařov and its surroundings on May 22, 1808.

Next to House No. 3 in Stonařov stands the stone wayside shrine Boží muka. It was erected in 1647 at the expense of Mathias Eysenbart and has a four-sided shrine with a deep, pointed-arch-vaulted niche.

Near the church in Stonařov stands the charnel house, a Late Romanesque ossuary chapel resembling a rotunda and dedicated to the Holy Trinity. Its circular nave was built from local stone; it also has a later, five-sided presbytery.

Landscape

The mountains of Rozhledna, Kalvárie, Březí, and Sokolíčko are located in the vicinity of Stonařov. Roštejn Castle [Doupě] is located near Stonařov. The wider region is home to the ruins of Janštejn, the U Svatého Křiže Church, and the U Svaté Magdalena Church.

Educational trail

The Naučná stezka Údolím Jihlávky na Aleje educational trail begins in the center of Stonařov and ends there again as a circular route. It is 10 km long and classified as easy. Nine stations with information boards in Czech and German accompany the route.

Near Stonařovské Aleje, the loop route runs along field and forest paths; 20 percent of the route is paved.
