Píšť is located on the left bank of the Želivka Reservoir.

History

The first written mention of Píšť dates back to 1352. Another historical landmark is the Rachyňský mlýn mill, which stood on the Blažejovický stream as early as before 1748. In 1890, it had two overshot water wheels. Milling ceased at the mill after 1950; however, the machinery was preserved.

Culture

The chapel in Píšť contains a bell dedicated to Saint Adalbert. The Vojslavice Bridge is also part of the architectural history of the surrounding area. Its lower arch bridge dates from 1939 to 1950. It was not put into operation until the construction of the upper motorway bridge from 1975 to 1979; it is registered as an immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Nature

The Želivka protected area is home to the species kuřička hadcová, netopýr černý and bolen dravý.

The Píšť educational trail has ten stations with information boards, tasks or puzzles for children. The trail is approximately 1.5 kilometres long, starts in the Vranice district and ends at the sports field in Píšť.

Geographical Location

The Vojslavice Bridge is a 229-metre-long double bridge over the Želivka Reservoir. A Class III road runs on the lower level, with the D1 motorway 12 metres higher. The bridge area includes the cadastral territories of Vojslavice nad Želivkou, Píšť u Humpolce, Hroznětice and Vranice u Humpolce.

Direct bus connections from Píšť run to Zruč nad Sázavou and Pelhřimov.
