Velká Chyška: Hotels and Accommodations

Velká Chyška combines distinctive sacred monuments with a characteristic rural village landscape. A road runs through the village, dividing it into two parts. The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Velká Chyška is a Neo-Romanesque building dating from 1898. A Renaissance tombstone from 1578, originating from the former church, is built into the outer southern wall of its presbytery.

Culture

The historic furnishings include two depictions of Saint John of Nepomuk: one polychrome stone statue dates from the late 19th century, while another statue stands on an richly articulated Baroque pedestal from 1742.

At the eastern edge of the village square stands a Neoclassical rural farmstead, originally with a closed four-sided ground plan. It comprises a single-storey residential building with a valuable stucco façade and adjoining farm wings. In the southeastern part of the village square there is a large Baroque farmyard, once belonging to Strahov Monastery. It includes a residential building with a triangular Baroque gable and stucco decoration. The residential building is connected by a low passageway to a large granary, whose gable façade is particularly massive.

In the immediate vicinity is Svatý Jan, which is considered a church. Želivský Kláštor, which is considered a monastery, is located in the surrounding area. In the wider regional vicinity are Orlík, which is considered a ruin, and Svatá Anna, which is considered a church.

Landscape

Near Velká Chyška lies Stražiště Hill, with an elevation of 744 metres. The immediate vicinity also includes Duškův vrch [Velká Chyška] and Chyška [Velká Chyška], each of which is considered a hill.

Vrchy, which is considered a mountain, is located in the surrounding area. Orlov, which is considered a mountain, lies in the wider regional vicinity.
