Culture
The late Baroque rectory has a mansard roof, original doors, Baroque wrought-iron grilles, a historic cross with a wooden corpus, and parts of the original furnishings. The building also has a vaulted gate and an enclosed front garden and is protected as a historical monument. The authentic interior features tiled stoves, floors, and stucco decoration.
A restored chapel stands in the forest above Stařeč railway station. The churches of Svatý Marek and Svatá Markéta are located in the surrounding area. The Church of Saint James the Greater in Stařeč was originally late Romanesque and was rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1734 and 1754; it is protected as a cultural monument.
House No. 62, U Sanderů, in Stařeč has an eventful history and now houses a health centre and the U Sandrů pastry shop. The history of the town also includes the Sander family: they moved to Stařeč before 1910, and all members of the family died in a concentration camp.
Events
The RC racetrack of the RC Autoklub Stařeč is located at Pikharta 562 in Stařeč. It is a fully unpaved off-road RC track. On 15 and 16 June 2024, the Czech Championship of RC buggy models was held there in Stařeč.
The traditional Pohádková cesta in Stařeč is a children’s event. At Pohádková cesta 2026, children could take part in games and other entertaining activities; the children’s event featured competitions, games, face painting, and a bouncy castle.
Geographical location
The mountains Pekelný kopec, Zadní hora (GSM trans.), Mikulovická hora, and Sadek are located in the vicinity of Stařeč. Further afield in the region are the Rabštejn ruins and Roštejn Castle.
The cycling route “Route No. 2: To Sádek Castle” leads from Mastník via Stařeč to Kracovice.
