The earliest written mention of Lesní Jakubov dates from 1356.

Nature and Surroundings
The western part of the cadastral area of Lesní Jakubov belongs to EVSK No. 18, “Horní Chvojnice”.
Regional biocorridor R05 runs along the western boundary of the cadastral area of Lesní Jakubov, partly extends into its peripheral areas and follows the course of the Chvojnice.
In the vicinity of Lesní Jakubov lies the almost vanished Horní Hrádek fortified manor, one of two fortified manors in the village, on the eastern edge of the cadastral area of Horní Lhotice on a plateau above the right bank of the Chvojnice, near the ford on the road to the nearby municipality of Lesní Jakubov. The fortified manor probably belonged to Lesní Jakubov.

From 15 December 2024, selected services of regional bus route 430 were expected to serve Lesní Jakubov.
