Jemnice: Hotels and Accommodations

Jemnice Chateau was created by rebuilding a royal castle founded at the beginning of the 13th century. In the 16th century, the castle was rebuilt as a four-wing Renaissance chateau. After 1734, the chateau acquired a Baroque appearance based on a design by Anton Erhard Martinelli; after 1818, the interiors were remodeled in the Empire style.

The Church of St. Stanislav was founded in the mid-14th century and rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the 1580s. The Gothic Church of St. Vitus stands east of Jemnice amid new development and is surrounded by a lime grove. It belonged to a Franciscan monastery founded in 1455 by the brothers Albrecht, Hynek, and Štěpán of Lichtenburk.

St. James is a landmark of the oldest part of the town, Podolí, and today stands on the site of an original princely court. An exploratory survey in 1974 revealed the ground plan of a Romanesque rotunda.

The signposted Queen Eliška tourist route leads through the most interesting sights and monuments in the center of Jemnice.

Jemnice Arboretum is a 4.3-hectare botanical park established near the school in 1907. It lies at an elevation of 476 to 482 m, includes a pond and a forest nursery, and was designed in the English style according to a plan by Karel Šiman of Libějovice, the chateau gardener and forestry expert. Selected trees are marked with signs and QR codes providing information about the respective species.

Modrácký kopec and Špičák are located in the immediate vicinity of Jemnice; both are mountains. Kleniční and Síbeňák are also located in the vicinity of Jemnice, each being a mountain.

In the wider regional surroundings of Jemnice are Landštejn and Roštejn castles. The churches of U Svaté Magdalena and U Svatého Křiže are also located in the vicinity of Jemnice.
