Boršice U Blatnice: Nature, Culture and Regional Trails
Boršice u Blatnice combines a protected nature monument, local traditions, an educational trail and a cycle path towards Hluk. The nature monument Přírodní památka Nádavky is located in the cadastral area of Boršice u Blatnice, approximately 1 kilometre north of the town. It protects rare thermophilic plant species and the only occurrence of yellow flax in the Uherské Hradiště District outside the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area.
Nature
The protected area is notable not only for rare thermophilic plants, but also for the distinctive occurrence of yellow flax outside the Bílé Karpaty in the Uherské Hradiště District. Another visible landmark is formed by the wayside shrines Boží muka. They stand on a hill above Boršice u Blatnice on the road to Blatnice.
Culture
The historical side of the village is reflected in its centre and local traditions. The present church Kostel sv. Kateřiny was built in 1788 as a single-nave Late Baroque church with a four-sided tower and is protected as a cultural monument. Associated with it are the recurring Kateřinské hody, which include a procession in traditional costumes, dance music and a mass in the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church.
Another place of cultural and historical significance is the Dům lidových tradic, a restored building from the late 19th century in the oldest house in Boršice u Blatnice. Three exhibition sections present traditional housing, folk costumes and a traditional black kitchen. This black kitchen contains equipment for cooking fruit preserves and drying fruit and is designed for processing local products such as apples, plums and pears. The Boršický kancionál was written and illuminated in Boršice u Blatnice from 1727 to 1733 and is considered evidence of the development of Moravian national ornamentation. Traditions and Events
The Boršický fašank is a recurring local procession tradition announced for 2025 and 2026. The procession starts at the fire station, followed by music at the village pub. The Nedělní cukrárna is also a recurring local culinary event. Its fourth edition was announced for 2025 and its fifth for 2026.
The traditional Hasičský ples was scheduled for 24 January 2026 in the hall of the cultural centre in Boršice u Blatnice; live music, refreshments and specialities from the kitchen were planned for this date.
Trails and Wine
The educational trail Naučná stezka Přírodou a historií Boršic is 3.3 kilometres long. It begins at Motorest U Hložků and ends at the Kostel sv. Kateřiny church. The educational trail is also connected to the cycle path towards Hluk. The Strážnická vinařská stezka splits in Boršice u Blatnice and continues through the village towards Hluk.
The modern winery Víno Zlomek & Vávra in Boršice u Blatnice has been part of the open-air concert series Hudba na vinicích since 2023.
