Zlámanec – Village Culture, Forests and Cycling Routes

The location in the valley and at the foot of the western peaks defines Zlámanec’s geographical setting. Several geographical references come together in understanding the village: the confluence of the Zlámanecký potok and Neradovský potok streams, the valley of the Vizovické vrchy, and the boundary between Uherskohradišťsko and Luhačovické Zálesí. The distance of about 15 km northeast of Uherské Hradiště describes the village’s location in the wider area, while the picturesque forests visibly extend into the landscape from the outskirts of the village.

A particularly illustrative example is the Talašova usedlost, a farmstead near House No. 37 on the village square. It demonstrates several phases in the development of the vernacular house in Luhačovské Zálesí. The main structure of this farmstead dates from the end of the 18th century. The chamber at House No. 5, which was built around the middle of the 19th century, is also part of the local architectural history. Its upper room was used to store food.

Among the distinctive religious monuments is the Zlámanecký wooden cross. It is decorated with carved reliefs depicting the Instruments of the Passion of Christ; Zlámanec preserves one of the last examples of a wooden cross mounted on a solid beam. The Zlámanecký wooden cross is believed to have been created in 1874. A column-shaped wayside shrine on a field path near the grounds of the agricultural cooperative was built in the 18th century.

Smaller historical features also form part of the village’s character. A fruit-drying facility is considered one of Zlámanec’s interesting monuments. There is also a hay barn on the outskirts of Zlámanec, which is among the local monuments. The individual buildings and structures point to different periods and functions, without their history being confined to a single building.

Several specific connections have been designated for cycling in Zlámanec. The C4 field path has a recreational sports function and serves, for example, as a cycling route connecting Zlámanec with the surrounding municipalities. A marked cycling route runs through Zlámanec. Marked cycling route 5055 runs through Zlámanec and connects the village by bicycle with Březolupy, Bohuslavice u Zlína and Doubravy.

Another way to enjoy the outdoors is offered by Pohádkový les: it consists of a walk through the forest featuring fairy-tale characters, games and surprises.
