Stupava: Hotels, Nature, and the Ski and Adventure Area

The Stupava Ski and Adventure Area has existed since 2001. The town lies in a valley along the Stupavka stream and in the center of the Chřiby Hills. This creates several perspectives for viewing Stupava: activities, nature, and culture appear partly in the town itself, partly in the surrounding area, and partly in the regional context of the Slovácko region. The local references range from the town’s own valley area through the immediate surroundings to the regional perspective of the cycling offer.

Activities

Stupava is a good starting point for hikes and cycling tours. In the surroundings of Stupava, a green-marked hiking trail leads to the ruins of Cimburk, an originally Gothic castle dating from 1327. The “Nejkrásnější cyklotrasy Slovácka” cycling offer presents the Chřiby Hills, the White Carpathians, and the Lednice–Valtice Area as three noteworthy cycling destinations in the Slovácko region. Thus, for cycling, it lists both the Chřiby Hills and two other areas within the same regional designation.

Nature

The surroundings of Stupava are characterized by densely wooded slopes and extensive forests. Approximately 1.5 kilometers southeast of Stupava, in the Kyjovka valley, lies the 7.8-hectare Stará Hráz Nature Reserve. It includes hornbeam-oak forests and ash-alder floodplain forests on the right valley slope and in the floodplain of the meandering Stupava stream (Kyjovka). These forest communities are characteristic of the Chřiby Hills. The geographical details distinguish between the location southeast of Stupava, the Kyjovka valley area, and the individual sections on the valley slope and in the floodplain.

Culture

The Chřiby Glassmakers’ Museum in Stupava reopened in 2025 with a new exhibition. The exhibition “Po stopách chřibských sklářů” is located in Stupava’s cultural center. Local glass production in the glassworks ended after the floods of 1905. Another dated point of reference in the town is the church: it was completed in 1859. Thus, both the glassmaking tradition and the local architectural history are connected with specifically named institutions and years.

For practical planning, you can view and compare offers for a hotel in Stupava. Included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions are equally important. Check whether occupancy and the scope of services are clearly stated. When several offers are available, the relevant items can be reviewed in the same order, so that differences in price and included services remain visible. Also check which services are included, which price components are listed separately, and whether the conditions for changes or cancellations are clearly worded. If conditions apply to changes or cancellations, deadlines and any possible fees should be clearly identifiable. The information provided with the respective offer at the time of your decision remains decisive.
