Újezdec: Vineyards, Trails and Local Culture
Újezdec is located in the hilly Kyjovská pahorkatina between the Chřiby Massif and the Morava floodplain. The southern slopes of the village are used for growing grapevines. Újezdec has been known for its vineyards and wine since the 16th century.
Wine and Enjoyment
The designated wine-growing sites of Újezdec belong to the Bzenec wine region.
The Újezdecký košt slivovice is a recurring local tasting event. The series runs from its 13th edition in 2019 to its 18th edition in 2026.
Culture
The new Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul in Újezdec was built in 1930. The local traditional costume also has its own regional classification: it belongs to the Osvětimany-Domanín type and resembles the costumes from Uherské Hradiště.
The Petropavlovské hodky are the most important cultural event in Újezdec and always take place at the end of June. The Petropavlovské hodky also include a traditional fair.
Hiking
A marked hiking trail of the Club of Czech Tourists passes through Újezdec. From Ořechov, the trail leads through the gorge and past the Újezdec cultural centre into the village. It then leaves Újezdec along the main road towards Hostějov, passes through Osvětimany into the Chřiby Mountains and continues to the Holý kopec nature reserve.
The challenging terrain of Újezdecká zmola offers young people opportunities for excursions of exploration and adventure; the gorge below the forest on the Stráně slopes has been preserved in a natural state.
Cycling
The local section of the Bzenecká cycling route includes challenging terrain and a plateau with expansive views. A wine route reaches its highest point in Újezdec and then continues over paved terrain to Vážany.
For a stay in Újezdec involving wine, culture, hiking or cycling, visitors can compare hotel offers on the respective offer pages. The exact location, type of accommodation and occupancy should be checked so that the booking details remain clear. Included services and individual price components can likewise be considered separately. The conditions for booking, changes and cancellation are also important, as these points may be worded differently depending on the offer. For a transparent comparison, it is helpful to use the same period and number of people and to check the displayed final price. The spelling of the location can also be compared with the travel details once more before completion. These notes concern only the respective offer page and do not constitute any statement about the availability, facilities, proximity, access or suitability of an accommodation. For multiple guests, the displayed occupancy limits and all mandatory surcharges should also be read together. Before making a decision, visitors can also check the stated payment method, any minimum stays, the deadline for free changes and whether all mandatory fees are already included in the final price. The details of the specific offer remain decisive.
