Hotels in Tupesy: Ceramics, Wine and Culture

In the centre of Tupesy is the Tupesy Ceramics Museum, housed in a former ceramics production building. At the same time, the museum is located in Tupesy's oldest building, dating from 1832. The house is a monument of folk architecture and represents the home of a smallholder and potter. In the ceramics workshop, visitors can make a plate themselves. The older history of the town also includes a discovery in the “Za Branou” area: a Slavic sunken-featured building from the late 9th or early 10th century was found there, together with numerous fragments of differently shaped vessels.

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a Neo-Romanesque chapel built from sandstone blocks; its construction was completed in 1852. It is associated with the traditional Tupesy pilgrimage held around 31 May. After the last pilgrimage in 1967, the tradition was revived in 2014.

Tupesy's landscape connections extend from the Zlechovský potok stream to the Chřiby forests. Along the 2 km Stezka keramiků trail, paths in Tupesy lead to places associated with the local ceramics tradition. The route is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists, decorated with original wood carvings and equipped with seating offering views of the Chřiby panorama.

The Velkomoravská poutní cesta 5150 leads from Staré Město railway station via Velehrad to Tupesy. The section to Tupesy is 8 km long and suitable for all cyclists. Another connection is provided by a paved farm road behind Staré Město. In the direction of Zlechov, it joins the Moravian Wine Trail 5150, which is routed towards Tupesy; the route is 5 km long.

Tupesy can be reached by public transport from Uherské Hradiště and from Staré Město railway station. This means that the area has both a public transport connection and several specifically named routes: the 8 km Velkomoravská poutní cesta 5150, the 2 km Stezka keramiků and the 5 km paved farm road in the vicinity of Staré Město.

The Slovakian tradition of Tupesy is still reflected today in Fašanky, with carnival processions accompanied by cimbalom music. The town also has a long-standing tradition of viticulture and wine production. Wine tastings have been held at the beginning of April each year since 1990. Another recurring event is the folk festival “Císařské hody”, held in Tupesy on the third Sunday of October each year.
