Police is located 7 km southwest of Valašské Meziříčí. The town lies on the edge of the Kelečská pahorkatina; the southern part of Police extends into the slopes of the Hostýnské vrchy.

Landscape

At 557 m, Hůrka is the highest point in Police. The Loučka forms the axis of the cadastral territory of Police. Public transport in Police is provided by bus routes and train connections.

Nature and Activities

The Police Arboretum is located on the grounds of the former Ve Zmole orchard. It is home to 70 species of trees and shrubs that are widespread in Central Europe. The arboretum opened in May 2018; access was free to the public. The Police Arboretum offers a panorama of the Beskydy and Javorníky mountains.

Marked cycle route 6216 to Valašské Meziříčí passes through Police. Police also has a pump track on municipal land that is open to the general public.

The Cyril and Methodius Trail runs through the southeast of the cadastral territory of Police. It is a network of several routes known as a European cultural route, leading to Velehrad from different directions and following the traces of Slavic roots.

In 2026, Police co-hosted the mountain bike competition “Polický okruh – memoriál Milana Gerly”, which is included in the DTB Série. Police also has a traditional New Year’s hiking trip; the event on 17 January 2026 led on foot to Oznice and back to Police.

Culture and Community Life

The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of the Lord, built in 1933, stands in Police. Police also has a memorial to the victims of both world wars.

At the Vepřové hody held in Police on 24 January 2026, visitors could sample traditional pig-slaughter specialties. The third edition of the Polický košt slivovice took place on 14 March 2026 at Hospoda Nad Točnou.

On 7 February 2026, the masked carnival procession Vodění medvěda took place in Police, visiting the residents’ homes.
