Shenako is known for its traditional houses. The village is also associated with the Church of St. George. The Shenako Monastery dates back to the 19th century and is located in the Chaghma Valley.

The traditional practice of village Boslob has been well preserved in Shenako. According to local tradition, women in Tusheti do not enter local sacred shrines and sanctuaries.

Hiking

One listed hiking route follows the Omalo–Shenako–Ageurta–Diklo–Bichekhi route. It is listed as an easy, 16-kilometre, three-day route and is indicated for June to September.

The route to Love Fortress begins at the visitor centre in Omalo and follows the road through Shenako. Shenako Church can be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicle. Shenako lies among forests, hay meadows and pastures.

Guesthouse Shenako offers four rooms and has a maximum capacity of ten people.

There are no petrol stations in Tusheti. There are also no pharmacies, banks, ATMs or bureaux de change there.

Pork is taboo in Tusheti; visitors are advised not to take it there.

At a family guesthouse in Shenako, visitors are served vegetables grown by the host family and the family’s dairy products. The residents of Shenako grow potatoes and barley on nearby plots.
