Wine and Cuisine

Tsinandali is registered in Georgia as a protected designation of origin for wine. The vineyards of the Ts’inandali Estate lie on the gentle slopes of the Tsinandali PDO at an altitude of 600 to 700 metres, where mountain air meets the Alazani Valley. The 40-hectare vineyard faces the morning sun and benefits from the cooling surrounding oak forests. Ts’inandali lies at the foot of the Tsiv-Gombori Mountains, where the slopes meet the sunny Alazani Valley.

At the estate, Prince Alexander Chavchavadze combined Georgia’s long winemaking tradition with modern European techniques. Visitors can take a Ts’inandali wine tour through the vineyards to the historic 19th-century oenotheque. The Tsinandali Estate offers Georgian cuisine paired with wines.

Culture

In the 19th century, Ts’inandali became a cultural centre visited by Georgian and foreign diplomats as well as artists. The Ts’inandali Garden covers 18 hectares and includes more than 1,600 exotic plant species from all continents. Since 2019, it has been included in the European Historic Heritage Gardens list.

The Ts’inandali Palace Museum displays the interiors and collections of the Chavchavadze family, including Georgia’s first piano, a billiard table, a library and manuscripts.
