Culture and history

The Anaklia coastal boulevard was designed by the Spanish architecture firm CMD Ingenieros, S.L. The fortress in Anaklia is surrounded by a two-tiered defensive wall. The Dikha Gudzuba archaeological monument documents Colchian activities in Anaklia in the 6th to 5th centuries BC.

The ruins of a fortress built in 1703 are located in Anaklia. Archaeological finds from Dikha Gudzuba near Anaklia are kept in the Zugdidi Museum. Anaklia is described as one of the very first seaports and fishing villages on the Black Sea.
