Culture

The Podmaniczky earthworks extend for several hundred meters along a ridge between Somhegy and Barát-út; individual sections are interrupted by deep valleys, including the Gerence Valley. The earthwork consists of a double rampart with preserved ditches and raised sections. Its construction period and purpose are unknown; it is provisionally attributed to the Late Bronze Age and may be connected with the Csörsz-árok earthwork system.

Access to the earthworks begins at the eastern end of Somhegypuszta on a macadam road closed by a barrier. After approximately 800 meters, visitors reach a turnoff leading to the ramparts. Where the field transitions into the forest, they can cross the two ramparts and then follow their line along a neglected forest path.
