In summer, swimming is possible from Balqash's city beaches. Ordinary access to the shore of Lake Balkhash is described as possible year-round.

In Bertyss Bay, the beach of the AquaCo recreation zone is designated for mass recreation at Lake Balkhash. The community beach of the Medical College in Bertyss Bay is designated for public recreation at Lake Balkhash. Bertyss Bay in Balqash also has a designated community beach along the shoreline of Lake Balkhash. Boat excursions on Lake Balkhash are offered at a promenade pier next to the amusement park.

Culture

The Museum of Urban History and Local Lore in Balqash offers themed excursions for groups, individual visitors and VIP guests. The Palace of Metallurgists in Balqash was built from 1948 to 1952 according to a design by the architect L. Melegi.
