Since 1991, Lyck (Ełk) has been home to the German minority association “Mazury”, which represents members from the city and the surrounding region. History

The ruins of a castle of the Teutonic Order are located on an island in Lake Ełk; a wooden castle was built there between 1398 and 1406.
