Geographical location
The village of Stremț is located in the lower reaches of the Geoagiu Valley, 4 km from the town of Teiuș. The municipality’s western limestone escarpment reaches an elevation of 1,150 meters at Vârful Prisecii.

Nature
Saxicolous plants such as Saxifraga paniculata, Asperula capilata and Dianthus spiculifolius grow on the municipality’s limestone escarpment. Northern duck species such as Bucephala clangula and Clangula hiemalis occur in the floodplain of the lower Stremț Valley in autumn and occasionally in winter.
Mount Geamăna is located in the wider regional surroundings of Comuna Stremţ, as is the Vârful Ţigla summit. The Biserica Şpălnaca church is also located in this wider regional area.
Culture and history
The Stremț ethnographic exhibition is located in the cultural center next to the library; access is available upon request. Its most important exhibits are the traditional women’s and men’s costumes. The exhibition also documents traditional weaving and the processing of wool, hemp, and flax. Traditional wooden furniture, such as a peasant bed, a table, and benches, is also on display, along with the seasonal use of a loom.
The Drumul Icoanei cultural route connects Alba Iulia, Teiuș, Stremț, Geoagiu de Sus and Valea Mănăstirii. It conveys insights into the importance of faith in the lives of Romanians in Transylvania, as well as the artistic expression of Romanians in Transylvania. Cetatea Diodului has a rectangular layout, which is considered unusual in Transylvania.
The episcopal church of Geoagiu de Sus dates from the 16th century. The more recent of the church’s two fresco layers dates from 1724.
Mariana Mereu revisits the cultivation of hemp, its processing, and the steps involved up to weaving the fabric. The village of Stremț was first documented in 1332 under the name sacerdos de Kyod “Dyod”.
Events and regional products
The Festivalul Cânepii promotes customs and crafts associated with hemp cultivation and takes place every year in August. Sărbătoarea Fii satului is a cultural and artistic gathering held annually in every village of the municipality.
At the Târgul Grădinarului 2026, Ferma de Zmeruă from Comuna Stremţ presented raspberry syrups, raspberry jam, and raspberry jelly.
