Another trail, called “Traseul 15 Cruce Albastră”, runs from Sălătrucu to Șaua Scării along a 33-kilometre-long forest road. Different route lengths and time estimates help you compare the described trails according to your planning framework. The routes also provide marking, duration, length and mode of transport as different points of comparison.

In the Izvorul Scării Valley, a cascade of waterfalls forms a total drop of approximately 200 metres; this includes the cascade known locally as Cascada Pișătoarea, with a continuous drop of 50 metres. From Sălătrucu, Stâna din Scara can be reached with an off-road vehicle with high ground clearance. The information combines a marked mountain hiking trail, a long forest road and a waterfall valley into different nature themes.

Culture and history

From the centre of the village of Văleni, a local road follows the stream to Mănăstirea Văleni, which administratively belongs to the Sălătrucu commune. The Sălătrucu-Bocănita monastic complex dates from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Schitul Bocănita was a small idiorhythmic monastic complex from the late 19th century.

The first church of the Văleni hermitage was built in 1691–1692 by Zaharia Grădişteanu. The “Sf. Nicolae” church in the Sălătrucu commune is a local architectural monument from the 16th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century and again in 1811. The historical details stand as separate points of reference and can be compared by period and building type.
