Buzău: Culture, Churches and Crâng Park
Buzău can be discovered through tangible evidence of its history. Casa Vergu-Mănăilă is a preserved 18th-century feudal building, documented in 1794. The building combines an old traditional architectural style with the Brâncovenesc style. Since 1976, it has housed the Ethnography and Folk Art Collection, a department of the Buzău County Museum.
Culture and Collections
At the Buzău County Museum, the exhibition “Ocolul lumii pe jos. Povestea celor 497 perechi de opinci” presents cultural heritage associated with Romanian globetrotter Dumitru Dan; the 497 pairs of opinci displayed there were made by folk artist Doina Mușat. Interactive storytelling lessons entitled “Călătorie pe glob” are regularly held as part of this exhibition. Craft workshops entitled “Semne tradiționale cusute” are also held there regularly.
The telephone collection of the Buzău County Museum comprises more than 300 telephone sets of Romanian and foreign origin, including from Germany, France, Belgium and the USSR. It illustrates the history of the telephone chronologically and the role of this invention in people's lives. All the items were restored using original components and are in working order.
