Jigodin-Băi – Mineral Water, Culture and Trails on Dealul Cetăţii

At the Jigodin treatment centre, natural mineral water is the most important therapeutic element. The water is 100 % pure and contains no additives.

Mineral Water and Mofette in Băile Jigodin

Băile Jigodin has a mineral water pool fed by natural carbonated mineral water. In addition, Băile Jigodin has a mofette. It is a treatment room saturated with natural carbon dioxide vapours and is used for circulatory and vascular diseases.

The two facilities differ in specific terms: the pool focuses on carbonated mineral water, while the mofette is characterised by the natural carbon dioxide saturation of the treatment room. The water’s natural carbonic acid and the natural carbon dioxide vapours are used separately. A mofette is therefore not another mineral water pool here, but a treatment room for natural carbon dioxide vapours.

For planning in Băile Jigodin, Szikla Spring, Miercurea Ciuc (Jigodin-Băi), Dealul Cetăţii and Csihányos are specific reference points. The hiking trail begins at Szikla Spring, connects Miercurea Ciuc (Jigodin-Băi) with Dealul Cetăţii and ends at the Csihányos nature reserve.

Casa Memorială “Nagy Imre”

The Casa Memorială “Nagy Imre” in Jigodin-Băi displays furniture, books, documents and the artist Nagy Imre’s collection of paintings. Nagy Imre lived from 1893 to 1976. The Casa Memorială focuses on the collection of paintings as well as furniture, books and documents.

Visitors interested in culture can include the Casa Memorială and the archaeological site on Dealul Cetăţii as distinct cultural topics in their travel planning.

Dealul Cetăţii and the Archaeological Site

The archaeological site of Cetatea Harom (Jigodin II) is located on the 904 m-high, cone-shaped Dealul Cetăţii. From the summit of Dealul Cetăţii, there is a good view over the entire Ciuc Basin from Sîndominic to Tuşnad. The view also extends to other Dacian fortifications.

Those who include Dealul Cetăţii in their hiking or cultural planning can consider the archaeological site and the summit view as two separate focal points. The distant view extends across the entire Ciuc Basin; the other Dacian fortifications provide an additional archaeological reference.

Băile Jigodin–Csihányos–Dealul Cetăţii Natural Area

The protected natural area of county-wide importance around Băile Jigodin, Csihányos and Dealul Cetăţii covered an area of 253 ha. The area figure of 253 ha refers to the entire protected area and not to any one of the three locations.
