In Comuna Strâmtura stands the wooden church “Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavriil”, a listed historical monument. It is dated to 1771; dendrochronological analysis also dated beams to 1654–55. It was brought there from Rozavlea Monastery as early as 1667.
The church preserves fragments of old royal doors and icons. Its painting is considered exceptionally high-quality, and the colors have been preserved very vividly.

A folk music festival takes place annually in Glod. The “Zilele comunei Strâmtura” offers traditional music and dances, a parade in folk costumes, and regional dishes. The “Duminica la Glod” festival had reached its third edition. In addition, cergi and pănură are fulled in water-powered vâltori in Glod.
Routes
The Botiza–Poienile Izei–Glod section of the Drumul Maramureșului is an 11-kilometer route suitable for half a day. The stages of the cycling loop route lead from Rozavlea via Șieu, Poienile Izei, Slătioara, and Strâmtura back to Rozavlea. From Slătioara, a branch leads to a salt spring and then to the source area of the Valea Unghiului.
The final climb to the saddle between Biserica Dracilor and Măgura Glodului runs either through a gully characterized by a mountain stream and steeper than 45 degrees, or across adjacent steep and slippery grassland.

The mountains Vârful Măgurii and Vârful Crângurilor, as well as the peaks Vârful Mare and Vârful Brazilor, are located in the immediate vicinity of Comuna Strâmtura.
