Aluniş is part of a hilly landscape located approximately in the centre of Prahova County, which is regarded as having a rich rural heritage.
Geographical Setting
The territory of Aluniş Commune lies in the Subcarpathians of Prahova and in the valley of the Aluniş River, a tributary of the Bertea. The actual hilly landscape within the commune reaches elevations of more than 450 metres. These different scales — the county landscape, the river valley and the ridge — help to consider local history, nature and routes separately in spatial terms.
Culture and Places of Remembrance
In the village of Aluniş in Aluniş Commune, the Dumitru Popa House dates from the late 19th century, the Ion Vişan House from the early 20th century, and the historic building Prăvălie şi cârciumă also from the late 19th century.
The Salonul de dans Anghel Nicolae is a listed building dating from 1920. Within the La Biserică archaeological site, the Church of Sfinţii Trei Ierarhi was built in 1883.
The Monument to the Unknown Soldier was created by the folk sculptor Chiva Constantin in memory of his son, who fell at the front. The Heroes’ Monument was moved to another location in the centre of Aluniş Commune in 2003 and rebuilt there. The historic structures and places of remembrance can be read as different layers of local history.
A painting camp was also held annually at the Aluniş Cultural Centre. Thus, alongside the aforementioned buildings, monuments and church, a recurring cultural event has also been documented as part of the area’s history.
Nature
The Ghioaca–Valea Cireşului Nature Reserve covers 88 hectares within the territory of Aluniş Commune and contains an old forest dominated by beech, oak, lime, hornbeam and other deciduous tree species.
The Valea Cărpinoasa Hydrological Nature Reserve comprises three sulphur springs that were used particularly for treating digestive complaints. The information about the forest and springs introduces two clearly distinct nature-related themes.
For a trip to Aluniş, a hotel can be assessed based on travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. The accommodation criteria therefore form a separate comparison framework alongside the culture, nature and route-related topics.

The corridor of county road DJ 101T runs via Valea Doftanei, Bertea, Aluniş and Vărbilău; the corridor of county road DJ 214 runs via Telega, Brebu and Aluniş. The two county-road corridors and the cycling route can be considered separately when comparing route types and the places visited.
