Brezoi at the Confluence of the Lotru and Olt
Brezoi lies at the confluence of the Lotru and the Olt. The town is also a starting point for numerous marked hiking trails leading through the Lotrului and Căpăţânii Mountains and the Cozia Massif.
Nature
Pădurea Călinești–Brezoi is a national protected area in IUCN Category IV and a mixed nature reserve located within the territory of U.A.T. Brezoi in Vâlcea County.
Pădurea Călinești–Brezoi features a ruiniform relief shaped by Brezoi conglomerates, with needle-like rocks, towers, rocky gorges, pyramids, haystack formations, steep slopes, rock bands, scree slopes and caves.

History
The old church of Brezoi was built in 1793. The old church of Proieni dates from 1583, and the old church of Călinești from 1715.
The “Eroii de la Olt – 1916” monument was dedicated to the 153 people from Brezoi, Călinești, Malaia and Voineasa who fell in the First World War. The foundation stone was laid in 1922.
The Gara Lotru railway station was built between 1898 and 1901.
