Discover Curăturile: Church, Paths and Cycling Routes

The wooden church “Nașterea Maicii Domnului” in Curături is one of the four Orthodox churches in Băile Govora considered worth seeing because of their beauty. The foundation stone for the church was laid in 2002. The location in the district and its affiliation with Băile Govora are two different levels: Curături identifies the specific location, while Băile Govora indicates the broader ecclesiastical connection. For those interested in culture, a specific church building is therefore the focus. The church building serves as an independent cultural point of reference for orientation in the district.

A spa trail runs from Băile Govora through the Curături district and onward to Surpatele Monastery. Curături lies on a route that begins in the town and leads to a monastery called Surpatele. When planning a section of the route, its course can be understood as a sequence of starting point, passage and onward destination. During a hike along this spa trail, the spatial course is therefore the focus, rather than a single stop. The route thus extends beyond the district and places Curături between Băile Govora and Surpatele Monastery. This keeps the spa trail separate from the two cycling routes.

Cycling is possible on a specially created route through the forest in the direction of Curături. In 2014, a downhill cycling route was also opened on the road leading uphill to the hamlet of Curăturile. For practical travel planning, the surface and the route alignment are the two clearest differences: one cycling route is associated with the forest and the direction of Curături, while the other follows the road, the climb and the hamlet of Curăturile. The two options therefore do not represent the same route, but two different routes, each with its own connection to the area. When choosing between the two cycling routes, the deciding factor is therefore whether the forest section or the road with the climb is being considered.

Curături has farms with apple, pear and plum trees. The farms give the district a specific landscape aspect alongside its ecclesiastical and route-related connections. The Dealul Piscul Gruiu peak is located in the immediate vicinity of Curăturile. The Dealul Mare peak is located in the surrounding area of Curăturile. For spatial orientation, the different scope of the two references is decisive: Dealul Piscul Gruiu is located closer by, while Dealul Mare is generally described as being in the surrounding area. The farms belong to Curături; the peaks, by contrast, are associated with the surroundings of Curăturile. The landscape references thus complement the district with two differently defined peak locations.
