Turcianske Teplice: Thermal Water, Aquapark and Culture

Turčianske Teplice is located in the Turčianska kotlina basin between the Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra mountains. Under Slovak Act No. 538/2005, the springs of Turčianske Teplice are classified as healing thermal mineral springs. The thermal water contains up to 1,524 mg/l.

Water

The SPA & AQUAPARK features the Folk pool and Red pool, which were built directly over mineral springs. The aquapark also includes a 25 m outdoor swimming pool with water jets and massage jets. Another outdoor leisure pool features hydromassage loungers, a wild-water channel and water jets.

There is also a year-round range of active water experiences: the “KAMIKAZE” slide is 47 m long, while “ATTRACTION MOVIE” measures 97 m. Both slides feature sound, light and visual effects. The modern spa facilities offer hydrotherapy using heat, pressure and gentle water jets. A doctor’s prescription is not required for the Bahenný kúpeľ treatment.

Another water attraction is the Termálne kúpalisko Vieska. Its 50 m swimming pool has a water temperature of 24 to 27 °C.

Culture

The Galéria Mikuláša Galandu is dedicated to the legacy of Mikuláš Galanda, displays his works and hosts exhibitions by Slovak and foreign artists. The birthplace of the painter, graphic artist and illustrator Mikuláš Galanda was designated a cultural monument on 13 July 1979 under registration number 3237/1-2.

Further historical connections can be found at the Modrý kúpeľ in Turčianske Teplice, which is a cultural monument. The Renaissance manor house Palatthyovský kaštieľ and the 0.8-hectare park in Diviaky are registered under number 539/1-2. According to the city’s designation, the Dni mesta are traditional events.

Getting around

The “Náučný chodník” educational trail takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to walk and is considered physically undemanding. It is accessible year-round and can also be cycled.
