Trakovice: Hotels and accommodations
In Trakovice, the Church of St Stephen the King is the town’s most important listed landmark. The church was built in 1811 in the Neoclassical style. It has a single nave and features an integrated tower and a semicircular presbytery.
Culture
The local sacred history also includes the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk, a restored small religious building, as well as several sculptures. The oldest stone sculpture in Trakovice is a statue of the Virgin Mary erected in 1884 and restored in 1999. A statue of Saints Cyril and Methodius dates from 1924. The statue of the Holy Trinity was erected in 1923 by the St. Vojtech Association, while a statue of Saint Florian stands next to the fire station.
A painting of Saint Alexius from 1792 is also among the cultural monuments mentioned; it was created by the painter Jozef Brandt from Hlohovec.
Landscape and trails
Trakovice is located in the flat alluvial landscape of the Danubian Lowland. The Dudváh stream flows through the eastern part of the built-up area in a north–south direction. State Road II/513 runs through the centre of Trakovice towards Hlohovec and Nitra.
The municipal development plan rates cycling along the Dudváh as very good and mentions a connection to Trnava via the Považská Route. Walking and hiking are also rated in the plan as very good leisure activities in Trakovice.
Events
In 2023, the municipality of Trakovice and Divadlo na TrakOch organised the fifth edition of the open-air cinema. The open-air cinema is one of the regular cultural events in Trakovice. Every year, Divadlo na TrakOch stages smaller and larger theatre performances.
Noc Návratov is a traditional annual oldies disco with a theatre programme and has been held since 2002. Since 2002, the theatre has also organised its own Saint Nicholas performances for children every year.
In September, an exhibition of fruit, vegetables and flowers is held, along with a harvest blessing during a Mass.
Surroundings
Pevnosť Leopoldov, a fortress, is located near Trakovice. The surrounding area contains Hlohovský zámok, a castle, Kaštieľ Horné Trhovište, a chateau, and Posádka, a ruin site. Šanec and Holý Vrch are mountains in the vicinity of Trakovice. In the wider regional area are Šarkán and Chrabov, both mountains.
