History
The cadastral area of Šelpice was already intensively settled towards the end of the Old Stone Age. Finds from the Neolithic period and subsequent cultures make Šelpice an important archaeological site. An archaeological settlement object was assigned, based on movable finds, to the Lengyel culture dating from 5000/4700 to 4000 BC.
At the Nad Gajdárovou archaeological site in the cadastral area of the neighboring municipality of Šelpice, a fragment of the handle of a glass skyphos was found and dated as an import from the Early Roman Imperial period. The chronological range of the archaeological evidence thus extends from the Old Stone Age through the Neolithic and the Lengyel culture to the Early Imperial period.
