Hotels in Malženice – Church, Nature and Horná Blava
Malženice can be viewed from several perspectives. Cultural history, the natural environment and mobility reveal different facets of the town, without any one of them replacing the others.
Culture
The Roman Catholic church in Malženice was originally a Romanesque brick building from the first half of the 13th century. At the beginning of the 14th century, it was extended with a new square sacristy. At the beginning of the 17th century, it was rebuilt as a three-nave church with Renaissance vaults. Malženice is also home to a Marian column dating from 1711. A pillar originating from the former pillory bears a statue erected at a later date from the early 19th century.
The 19th-century houses in Malženice also provide insight into historical architectural forms. They included adobe and rammed-earth houses that were plastered and whitewashed. The houses had hipped roofs, originally thatched and later fitted with hard roofing. The farm buildings were arranged in narrow courtyards either one behind another or in an L-shaped layout. Over the course of its development, the row settlement along the stream in Malženice transformed into a clustered settlement. Local culture also includes the tradition of folk costumes in the western Slovak variant known as “trnavský – Trakovice”.
Nature
North of the built-up area of Malženice, a weir on the Horná Blava serves as a natural swimming lake as well as a fire-protection and flood-control reservoir. The Špačinsko-nižnianske polia Special Protection Area covers the cadastral territory of Malženice. It extends across Malženice and was designated to safeguard the conditions necessary for the survival and reproduction of the red-footed falcon. The bird protection area is also part of the Natura 2000 network.
Mobility
Cycle route 2203 follows the Trnava–Dolná Krupá–Dobrá Voda–Chtelnica–Malženice–Trnava loop. Malženice has direct bus connections to Trnava and Piešťany. There are two bus stops in the town, served by buses in both directions.
Included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions are equally important. Comparing costs is particularly worthwhile when services are charged separately. If you are travelling with several people, pay attention to the specifically stated occupancy and which services are already included in the price. Also check whether the conditions for changes or cancellation are clearly described. Compare which services are included in the stated price and which price components appear separately. For offers in Malženice, it is also worth looking at the total price for the selected period, as well as the deadlines and conditions for changes or cancellations. To do so, view the displayed offers and compare the listed fields before booking.
