At the Castra site, Ajdovščina preserves an almost continuous Roman fortification wall with fourteen towers.

History
The Roman fortress of Ad Pirum near Hrušica lies at an altitude of 858 metres on the Roman road between Aquileia (Oglej) and Emona (Ljubljana). The Ad Pirum Archaeological Park can be visited independently at any time. It includes a small exhibition at the Stara pošta inn in Hrušica.
The Church of St John the Baptist in Ajdovščina preserves frescoes and a Stations of the Cross by Anton Cebej from the 18th century. At Tabor nad Črničami, the north-eastern of the former two defensive towers and the northern of the two fortified entrances have been preserved.
Culture
The Pilon Gallery presents paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures by Veno Pilon in a permanent exhibition. It also hosts temporary exhibitions in the fields of fine art, design, architecture and photography. The Ajdovščina Museum Collection displays around 1,200 fossils from all over Slovenia.
Vipavski Križ is a historic cultural site in Slovenia surrounded by a town wall. The Capuchin Monastery in Vipavski Križ houses a library with numerous manuscripts, unique book copies and outstanding works of art; it is open to visitors by prior arrangement. The renovated wine cellar of the castle in Vipavski Križ hosts numerous cultural and social events.
Trails
Predmeja is a starting point for interesting hiking and cycling tours. The Pot po robu hiking trail runs from Predmeja to Col along the edge of the Gora Plateau and offers views of the Vipava Valley, the Karst, and the Gulf of Trieste and the Gulf of Piran. A large gravel car park is located at the starting point of the Pot po robu hiking trail near the Materi Gorjanki monument in Predmeja.
The Kovk launch site for paragliding is located at an altitude of 860 metres above sea level.
Nature
Bošnarjevo brezno in Predmeja is considered the most easily accessible cave for visitors there; it has three entrances and a natural bridge over a wide chasm.
Otliško okno is a natural bridge formed by a powerful tectonic fault. The rock opening is 12 metres high and 7 metres wide at its broadest point; it was formed through weathering and the washing away of the rock. After several days of rain, a large volume of water emerges from underground near the Hubelj through three caves: Veliko Hubeljsko kuhinjo, Pajkovo mrežo and Vzhodno Hubeljsko jamo.

The „Secrets of the Roman Fortress Castra“ experience brings the defensive walls, towers, baths and remains of an underfloor heating system to life. It enables visitors to explore the Roman fortification independently or take part in a guided tour, combining interpretation, storytelling and interactive elements.
The Vipavska dolina Rally takes place in the Ajdovščina and Vipava area and includes a night-time super special stage in the centre of Ajdovščina.
Food and Drink
Vinoteka Vipavski Križ offers guided wine tastings in the Grajska klet by prior arrangement. The independent small brewery Pivovarna Pelicon brews unfiltered and unpasteurised beers that visitors can buy and try in its own shop.
