Ljutomer: Hotels and Accommodation
In General Maister Park stands the only monument in Slovenia depicting Rudolf Maister as a cultural figure, poet, and bibliophile. The Ljutomer Museum presents Karol Grossmann, who filmed the first Slovenian film, “Odhod od maše,” in Ljutomer in 1905.
Culture
The Ljutomer Museum has three permanent collections that convey the history of the town and its surroundings through stories, objects, and memories. Ljutomer is regarded as the site of the first Slovenian film recording and hosted the first Slovenian Tabor, where demands were raised for fundamental national rights, the official use of the Slovenian language, and a united Slovenia.
The first Slovenian trotting races took place in the area around Ljutomer in 1874; the region is considered the cradle of Slovenian horse breeding. Sunday trotting races at the Ljutomer Hippodrome are among the important local traditions.
The Pristava Winegrowing and Farming Museum presents more than 300 years of farming and winegrowing life of the Pavličič family. After prior reservation, the expanded program includes a farmer-style snack with wine from the family’s own cellar. Lončarstvo Žuman has passed down its pottery craft through five generations since 1874 and maintains a small museum with products from five generations of the family.
The area around the Municipality of Ljutomer also includes the State Archives in Međimurje and the Church of St. Jerome.

A section of the Slovenian-Croatian branch of the Prekmursko-Štajerska Way of St. James runs through the territory of the Municipality of Ljutomer.

A landscape park covering 1,345 hectares includes the Jeruzalem Hills as well as six ponds in the village of Podgradje near Ljutomer.
The area around the Municipality of Ljutomer includes the Mađerkin Breg landscape feature, recorded as a peak, as well as Pod Kotom- jug, Nova Tabla, and Popava1, recorded as natural arches.
