History

The water reservoir in Kambreško is a World War I heritage site of exceptional importance. It served the army at the front and remained important in the post-war period. Its former layout has been preserved: the upper section consisted of two troughs and water taps, while the lower section had a trough for watering livestock. An inscription referring to its restoration in 1919 is still visible in the cement of the water reservoir.

Culture

Lukčeva hiša houses a stone hearth, a 19th-century bread oven, an ethnological collection, and a collection of old documents, letters, records and pictures. There is also a museum collection of objects from World War I, found mainly in the area around Kambreško and Globočak. Trails

The Planinska pot na Globočak begins in Kambreško near the NOB monument. Along its route, it passes bunkers, trenches, troughs, water reservoirs and a memorial marker from World War I. Today, these are important monuments along the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic. The trail thus connects its starting point in Kambreško with visible traces of history without the individual testimonies losing their distinctive character.

The Juliana Trail also passes through Kambreško. The 18th stage runs via Srednje and Globočak to Kambreško, then continues via Humarji, Gorenje Nekovo and Lig to Korada. There is no public transport on the section between Kambreško and Šmartno. A physically demanding mountain bike tour leads through remote hamlets of the Kanalski Kolovrat around Kambreško and from there down into the valley of the border river Idrija.

Nature

Nearby, below the village of Kambreško, the pools of the Idrija River invite you to cool off. At this point, the river is also a border river, and its valley accommodates part of the mountain bike route.
