Culture and history
The Muzej Južne železnice in Šentjur displays extensive archival material and railway equipment from the period beginning in 1844 at the Franz Josef Railway Office.

Lake Slivnica covers 84 hectares, is 5 kilometres long, and was created in 1976 by damming the Dobrina and Ločnica streams.

Local life and events
Šentjurjevo takes place every year at the end of April as a multi-day event featuring a market for local produce and products, a competition to cook “Šentjurjeve kisle župe”, concerts, sports events, a children’s programme, and an exhibition of historic cars and motorcycles.
During the “Čaj z Ipavci” experience, visitors create their own herbal tea blend, which must include linden blossoms, and take it home in an attractively designed wooden container.
The Martinovi dnevi na Ponikvi event takes place from Friday to Sunday around the name day of St Martin, the parish patron saint, and begins with a tasting of young wine and an exhibition that remains on display throughout the event.
Getting there and cycling
The Šentjur Tour destination is located on the Southern Railway. There are five railway stations in its area – Šentjur, Grobelno, Ponikva, Ostrožno, and Dolga Gora – and bicycles can be taken on most regional trains.
The Municipality of Šentjur joined the KolesCE bicycle-sharing system in 2020; since then, there have been nine bicycle rental stations in Šentjur and the surrounding area.
