Blato near Trebnje: Hotels, Pond and Pitch-&-Putt Golf

Ribnik Blato and its surroundings are maintained by members of the Novo mesto Fishing Association. During a nature excursion at Ribnik Blato, life in and around the water was observed. The pond was also included in an educational activity: pupils used an orienteering trail around Ribnik Blato. These examples remain closely connected to the body of water and show different ways in which the place has been used for nature observation and learning.

Ribnik Blato was created after the rehabilitation of a clay pit belonging to the former ceramic tile industry from Račje Selo. At the pond, anglers and villagers have breathed new life into the area known as “blata”. Locals describe it as a quiet part of the village. Thus, memories of former industrial use and the pond’s present-day importance to the village come together at this place.

On the way to Ribnik Blato stands a “toplar”, a double kozolec that was relocated and restored in 2004. A small ethnological museum can be visited beneath an old toplar kozolec at Okrepčevalnica Florijan. The small museum presents part of the local history through original old objects. The route to the pond and a visit to Okrepčevalnica Florijan thus connect several specific testimonies to the local past, without needing to combine them into a single attraction.

Blato Golf Course is certified as a Pitch-&-Putt course by the Pitch-&-Putt Association of Slovenia. Blato Golf Facility has a covered practice area, so it is also possible to train there in the rain. In the 2021 season, the programme of Blato Pitch&Putt Golf Club included regular weekly courses for children and other groups, as well as a golf camp for children.

Okrepčevalnica Florijan offers quiet walks by the lake as a leisure activity. Short organised hikes are also offered at Okrepčevalnica Florijan. Okrepčevalnica Florijan is located approximately 3 km from Trebnje railway and bus station. Thus, walks, organised short hikes and the golf activities mentioned above are available at this location; the courses and camp explicitly refer to the 2021 season.
