Culture

The old village of Dhërmi features traditional stone architecture and characteristic alleyways that preserve the historic identity of the place. It is located on the mountain slopes and offers impressive panoramic views over the Ionian Sea. Its religious heritage includes the Church of Saint Stephen, with traces dating back to the Byzantine period, as well as the Monastery and Church of Saint Mary, situated above the village of Dhërmi. The buildings and alleyways convey different sides of the area: here, the organically developed structure of the old village; there, individual religious buildings with their own historical character.

Nature

There are several karst caves along the stream in the village of Dhërmi that are of interest to visitors. One of them is the Pirate's Cave on Shën Todrit Hill. It is about 30 metres long and has historical and tourist value. The landscape around the beach is also clearly visible: the roads in this area are surrounded by olive groves and mountains. The landscape therefore extends from the slopes and the village stream to the coastal paths and the open view of the Ionian Sea.

Water

There is a clear spatial separation between the village and the beach: the national road separates the village of Dhërmi from Dhërmi Beach. Along the shore, both rounded stones and fine sand shape the various beach sections. Diving is possible in the clear water, while other water sports and water-based activities offer numerous opportunities at the beach. The coast is therefore described not only by its surface, but also by the different ways the water is used.

Hiking

The Southern Coastal Trail runs from Dhërmi almost as far as Saranda. A hike begins in Dhërmi on the main road near the bend that crosses the gorge. Along a simple, wide path from Dhërmi, there are several old mills and a waterfall. The route does not connect any invented intermediate destinations; instead, its specific starting points and the named stops keep it clearly defined.
