Qeparo combines coastal scenery, a village built on rising terrain, and historic buildings. Water, hills, traditional architecture, and an archaeological past form different layers of the village. This connection extends from the coast to the older settlement traces and encompasses both the villagescape and individual buildings.

Coast

Qeparoi Beach is a small beach known for its blue water and is used mainly for recreation. The road from the coast to old Qeparo climbs up the hill. In old Qeparo, stone houses and narrow lanes preserve traditional elements. The three features form a clear sequence of coast, rising hill, and traditional buildings. Thus, the characteristics of the beach stand alongside a road leading up to the old village and a villagescape of stone, narrow lanes, and preserved traditional elements.

Culture

Upper Qeparo has stone-paved streets and old churches. The Monastery of Saint Demetrius is located in Lower Qeparo and was built around 1730 in its most complete form. The designations Upper and Lower Qeparo refer here to different locations: the streets and churches are assigned to the upper area, while the monastery is assigned to the lower area. Together, these parts of the village include paths, churches, and a monastery; the construction around 1730 also provides a specific historical date for the monastery.

History

The Ali Pasha Tower, also known as the Vlashaj Tower, is located in Qeparo approximately 1 km north of the village. It is distinguished by characteristic stone surrounds with arcade motifs. Alongside this tower, Karos Castle is one of the region's historic structures. It belongs to an advanced phase of the prehistoric settlements of Kaonia and is considered a 3,000-year-old castle with five rows of walls. Thus, the historical perspective extends from a tower with two names and distinctive stone forms to a castle connected with the prehistoric settlement history of Kaonia.
