Vermosh is an Alpine village with extensive meadows, forests and rivers. The village is suitable for hiking, mountain biking and camping, thus combining different forms of stays in the Albanian Alps.

Nature

Vermosh Canyon, also known as the “Canyon of the Union”, is formed by the confluence of the Vermosh and Lepushe rivers. It is located in the Albanian Alps and is therefore one of the named landscape features of the village.

Hiking

One precisely named route is the “Gropat e Selcë – Perdelecit Vermosh” hiking trail. It is located in Shkodra District and the Albanian Alps National Park, is 25,715.96 metres long and takes 5 hours and 30 minutes. The length and duration provide this trail with a clearly defined framework without anticipating other routes.

Among the other named trails, the “Trail of the Forest” (Shtegu i pyllit) runs as a circular route from the centre of Vermosh to Skrapatush and back to the centre of Vermosh. The “Trail of Kërshi i Djegur” (Shtegu i Kërshit të Djegur) runs as a circular route from Vermosh Bashkim via Qafa e Kujtë and Kërshi i Djegur back to Vermosh Bashkim.

The “Red Water Trail” (Shtegu i ujit të kuq) runs as a circular route from the centre of Vermosh via Varri i Memit, Qafa e Mojanit, Zabel and Lugu i ujit, then once again via Varri i Memit and Vermosh Velipoja back to the centre of Vermosh. The “Canyon Trail” (Shtegu i kanionit) leads from Vermosh Bashkim via Ujëvara to Kanion.

Regional Cuisine

Regional products include Mishavinë. This distinctive cheese is made from sheep’s and cow’s milk and produced mainly in Lepushë and Vermosh. Alongside the trails and river landscapes, this also means there is a specifically named food product from the nearby region.

Getting There

From Shkodra, the route leads via Koplik and Bajza. Instead of crossing the border on the left, follow the SH20 towards Lepushë and Vermosh. The route therefore names both the starting city and the places and road by which Vermosh is reached along this route.

Culture

Cultural activities are organised in Vermosh in summer to promote the heritage of Kelmendi. These seasonal activities complement the nature and outdoor themes with an aspect explicitly related to the region’s heritage.

When comparing a hotel, also check its exact location, the type of accommodation and the stated occupancy there. Pay attention to the included services and which costs are included in the displayed price. The respective conditions apply only to the specific offer; the village profile makes no statement about the amenities, price or availability of any individual property.
