Zеĺva: Hotels and accommodations

The Zel’va Reservoir is located on the southeastern outskirts of Zel’va. It features tourist facilities such as a tourist base, a hotel complex, several agrotourism accommodations, and a beach.

Culture

The Svetoch Museum’s exhibition on the Second World War in the Zelvenshchina covers the years 1941–1944. The exhibition “Zelvenshchina in the 20th Century” at the Svetoch Museum includes photographs of Zel’va and documents about people who contributed to the region’s development. The Svetoch Museum prepares and conducts both general overview tours and thematic tours.

A temporary exhibition entitled “Annenskaya Fair in the Zelvenshchina” was set up at the Svetoch Museum. An exhibition by the Svetoch Museum on the Annenskaya Fair displays tokens and coins as well as goods that may have been sold by local craftsmen; it also presents a historical agreement on the delivery of Edam cheese to Zel’va.

Zel’va’s architectural heritage includes the Neo-Gothic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built between 1910 and 1913, and the Orthodox Holy Trinity Church, erected in 1815 in the pseudo-Russian style. The Holy Trinity Church in Zel’va underwent extensive renovation from 1904 to 1909, including the addition of a stone bell tower. In 1910, it was reconsecrated as an Orthodox church.

Events

The Annenskaya Fair began in the Zelvenshchina in 1721. It was named after Saint Anne because its opening day, July 26, coincided with her religious feast day.

The sixth edition of the “Legendary Eras” historical reenactment festival took place in Zel’va on July 11. The medieval program of the “Legendary Eras” festival included tournaments featuring mounted and foot knights as well as archery competitions. Visitors to the “Legendary Eras” festival could view camps where participating clubs reenacted everyday life in past centuries.

In the wider vicinity of Zel’va, the Tourism Information Center of the Zelva District developed a quiz game in which participants complete tasks at various stations.

Nature

On the “Mir zapovednika Medukhovo” ecological trail in the Zelva District, visitors can see rare plant and animal species listed in the Red Book, as well as ancient oak trees, including oaks with seemingly split trunks.

History

The surviving building of Zel’va railway station was originally constructed at the beginning of the 20th century. Three of the former watermill’s original four stories remain; it is no longer used for its original purpose.

In the wider vicinity of Zel’va, a sign with distance information on the R-90 road between Volkovysk, Zel’va, and Slonim points to the Medukhovo ecological trail. In the broader region around Zel’va, the “Zelvenski Diaryush” green route was established based on the region’s natural resources and historical and cultural monuments.
