Culture

The Museum of Education History of Shchuchyn Land is located in a secondary-school building constructed in 1902, which initially housed a teacher-training college and later a Polish gymnasium. Letters from the first gymnasium students, original photographs, exercise books, and textbooks are displayed there.

The Museum of Education History of Shchuchyn Land also offers a guided tour of the history of Shchuchyn and a tour focusing on the educational traditions of Shchuchyn Land. The Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Shchuchyn can be visited by prior arrangement. The People's Museum of Military Glory prepares and conducts overview and thematic tours on the history of Shchuchyn Land during the Second World War, the remembrance of the war, and the war in Afghanistan.

The Museum of Shchuchyn History is located in the Drutski-Liubetski Palace and contains three permanent exhibitions: the Salon of the Drutski-Liubetski Princes, Shchuchyn in the Context of World History, and Shchuchyn as a City of Aviators. The exhibition „Shchuchyn in the Context of World History“ covers the history of Shchuchyn Land, prominent figures from the region, architectural monuments from the 16th to the beginning of the 20th century, and significant events in Shchuchyn Land. The aviation history of Shchuchyn is presented at the Museum of Shchuchyn History in a separate exhibition entitled „Shchuchyn – City of Aviators“.

The school museum was converted into the People's Museum of Military Glory in July 2009. It preserves medals, orders, letters from the front, Red Army soldiers' books, and other evidence related to the liberation of Shchuchyn Land. The Shchuchyn Center for Children and Youth Creativity includes departments for folk art as well as crafts and folk art.

History

The Drutski-Liubetski Palace has a symmetrical neoclassical façade whose design is based on the Trianon Pavilion at Versailles. The St Teresa of Avila Church in Shchuchyn was built by monks of the Piarist order and financed by a local landowner from the Drutski-Liubetski family. The church and its college form a Classical-style ensemble with a Doric portico and distinctive wooden elements.

The MiG-19 monument in Shchuchyn was erected in 1972 and later moved to the opposite side of the pond. Balls were held in the ballroom of the Drutski-Liubetski Palace, and young people prepared for them for several months.

Leisure

The Park of Culture and Recreation in Shchuchyn is located on Sovetskaya Street. The sports complex of the Shchuchyn Children's and Youth Sports School offers paid public services, including training with fitness equipment, sports training for adults, and table tennis. For adults, the sports complex runs groups for football, volleyball, and handball. It is located at 8a Aviators Street.

Nature

In 1814, the historic S.B. Yundzill Botanical Garden in Shchuchyn contained a total of 500 plant species, divided into native, ornamental, exotic, and medicinal plants.
