Bosnian-Podrinje Canton: Hotels and Accommodation

About 75 % of the canton is covered by forests and pastures at elevations above 500 m; the remaining 25 % consists of areas below 500 m. Anyone planning a trip may want to book a hotel in Bosnian-Podrinje Canton.

Landscape and routes

The M5 (Sarajevo–Višegrad), M18 (Sarajevo–Brod na Drini) and M20 (Ustiprača–Foča) main roads form the canton’s most important road connections to the surrounding area.

The Kiseljak mineral spring area is designated as a natural monument. Near the Nedim Pilav Jogi mountain lodge on Ruda Glava, there are paths for walking, hiking and cycling. Klek is an alpine climbing area.

Culture and history

The Festival prijateljstva in Goražde is an annual event featuring music, dance, theatre, film screenings and artistic performances. In 2008, it was recognized as a cultural event of federal significance and federal interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The programme includes a regatta, games on the Žanj, bridge jumps, exhibitions, book presentations and fairs.

The Rorovi excursion site is located 2 km from the centre of Goražde and includes wartime exhibits such as tanks, artillery pieces and anti-aircraft equipment, as well as the memorial house of Commander Zaim Imamović.

The necropolis of Stećci at Goršić-polje is the largest Stećci necropolis in Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde and a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. From Goražde, the route leads via Osanica on the M20 and then via Ilovača on the R-448a to the necropolis; the total distance is 31 km.

The Zavičajni muzej Goražde presents the exhibition “Ratna izložba” about Goražde and its inhabitants from 1992 to 1995. Most ispod mosta in Goražde’s central park is a symbol of wartime and represents the art of survival, the ability to improvise and wisdom.

Rivers and riverbanks

The Žanj excursion site is a city beach in the centre of Goražde on a river island and offers opportunities for swimming, sunbathing and kayaking. The Zelena excursion site in the Zupčići district is a developed sandy beach with tourist signage and facilities for walking, swimming, fishing and spending time in nature.

The Sadba excursion site on the Drina has shelters and extensive beaches, as well as opportunities for fishing, kayaking, rafting and camping. The Drina and the Prača, Kolina and Kosovska rijeka rivers are rich in fish and offer opportunities for sport fishing. The tourist office of the BPK Goražde Cantonal Tourist Association organizes rafting on the Drina.

The Drina Regatta follows an approximately 20 kilometre-long section of the Drina from the village of Modran near Ustikolina to Goražde.

The Ada tourist settlement is located on a river island on the Drina, 3 km from Ustikolina in the municipality of Foča in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and consists of wooden houses surrounded by a flower park.

Cycling and regional destinations

The canton offers 92 km of developed and attractive cycling routes that pass through natural landscapes and by cultural and historical monuments such as the necropolis of Goršić-polje and the Rimski most at Kožetin.

Regional events

The 21st economic and cultural event “Dani jabuke”, held in Goražde in 2025, brought together more than 80 exhibitors from the region. The event promotes healthy nutrition and the tourism potential of Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde.
