Garmen: Hotels and Accommodations

Nicopolis ad Nestum was founded in 106 AD by the Roman Emperor Trajan to celebrate his victory over the Dacians. From the 2nd to the 6th century, the city developed into a center of economic, political, and cultural importance. Nicopolis ad Nestum is described as one of the few surviving ancient cities in Bulgaria and as the only city from the Roman era in the Rhodopes.

Garmen is also home to the Church of St. George. It was built in 1898 and is a cultural monument of national importance. The nearby village of Kovachevitsa is home to the Church of St. Nicholas, which was built in 1848 and is likewise considered a cultural monument of national importance.

The nearby Kaninska Eco-Trail is 13 kilometers long and runs through wooded and rocky terrain. Along the route, there are scenic landscapes and rich biodiversity. The possible routes take between two and ten hours.

Near the Kaninska Eco-Trail, there is a bivouac with a shelter, tables, benches, and fire pits. There are places there for picnics or camping in tents.

Nearby natural features include Kozi Kamak, a protected natural landmark. It consists of a distinctive rock formation in the area of Kovachevitsa.

The plane trees of Zagarde are located 0.5 kilometers west of Garmen on a paved road. They are situated in Zagarde, which is now a neighborhood of Garmen. The trees are over 600 years old and were protected in 1968 because of their age, size, and beauty.

The nearby Ognyanovo is a balneological center within the municipality of Garmen. Its thermal water reserve comprises seven natural springs and two drilled wells.
