Krapets: Hotels and Accommodations

Krapets Beach is approximately 7.5 kilometers long and largely undeveloped. It stretches from Cape Krapets via the lagoon of Lake Durankulak toward Cape Kartalburun. Krapets-North Beach lies within the two Natura 2000 protected areas BG0002050 “Durankulak Lake” and BG0000154 “Durankulak Lake”. Krapets Central and Krapets South are listed as unguarded beaches.

Lake Durankulak is a biosphere and archaeological reserve protected under the Ramsar Convention. The shallow, enclosed coastal lagoon occupies lower-lying areas of former river valleys. Numerous Thracian burial mounds have also been preserved in the Krapets area.

The Lake Durankulak reserve and the surrounding Natura 2000 zone are part of the Via Pontica bird migration route. Lake Durankulak is an important stopover for birds along this migration route. The lake is of international importance for the preservation of more than 260 endemic, rare, and endangered plant and animal species. A total of 244 bird species have been recorded at Lake Durankulak and in the adjacent areas, including 67 listed in Bulgaria’s Red Data Book. The lake is also Bulgaria’s only scientifically documented current habitat of the wild carp. In total, 17 fish species occur in Lake Durankulak, including four globally threatened species listed in Bulgaria’s Red Data Book.

The feature film “Three” was filmed in Krapets and on the surrounding beaches in 2011. The “Slantse 1871” community center organizes celebrations, festivities, contests, and competitions as part of Krapets’s cultural and sporting life. Its activities and initiatives are aimed at both residents and visitors to Krapets.

Krapets Guest House is located in the center of Krapets, close to grocery stores, an ATM, a sports field, a market with local produce, a fresh fish shop, the village church, and the library. The accommodation is a seven-minute drive from the beach. It offers ten studios, free parking, a summer kitchen, a barbecue, a children’s playground, a pool, and Wi-Fi.

Krapets Holiday is a complex of four detached single-story houses on the outskirts of Krapets. The complex includes access to a section of beach with a lifeguard, as well as options for lunch or refreshments. Emma Guest House is 50 meters from the seashore and approximately 100 meters from the swimming pools and restaurants of Yanitsa.

The Yanitsa resort is located on the seafront of Krapets and comprises two hotels. Yanitsa 1 has a swimming pool next to the resort’s à la carte restaurant and day bar. The seaside garden provides guests with a place for walks and includes a children’s area. Yanitsa also provides facilities for tennis, table tennis, billiards, and volleyball. The à la carte restaurant serves fish specialties as well as Bulgarian and European dishes. The seaside grill restaurant has a sea terrace and serves roast lamb, fish soup, and homemade ice cream. Yanitsa 2 has a swimming pool with a children’s area.

Krapets is most conveniently reached by car. There are also daily bus connections from Varna and Dobrich.
