Tyulenovo: Hotels and Accommodation

Tyulenovo’s shore has red, steep cliffs that drop at least 20 to 30 metres toward the sea. The coast consists of reefs, steep sea cliffs, endemic Limonium vegetation, unexplored caves, and sea caves that are either submerged or partially submerged. Tyulenovo’s small coastal bays are associated with opportunities for scuba diving and fishing. Named shore areas include Ashalak, Kipria, Dupkata and Martina; deeper holes are named at Martina, Samotnika and Samotnata Kanara.

Visitors can hire a boat from local residents for a trip to the caves.

The rocky shores north and south of Tyulenovo, together with the adjacent steppe and marine waters, form parts of the Natura 2000 sites Kaliakra and Complex Kaliakra. Tyulenovo’s rocky sea shores are nesting grounds for the pygmy cormorant and a key habitat of the pied wheatear. Sea fennel, as well as the locally named species бисерова змийска трева, татарска змийска трева and Калиакренско плюскавиче, have been recorded on Tyulenovo’s high rocky shore. The area around Tyulenovo forms part of the Kaliakra Important Bird Area, which is described as the only place in Bulgaria where remnants of the Dobrudzha steppe have been preserved.

Rock Bridge in the Tyulenovo area has been designated a protected natural landmark. The natural landmark covers 2,424 decares; camping is prohibited within this natural landmark. Rock Bridge resembles a natural arch between sea and land and is described as having no equivalent on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

It is recorded that Tyulenovo received its name in 1942 because herds of monk seals were present in an environment of surf, caves, low cliffs and winds that suited them.

A completed municipal project created a recreational zone and a zone for observing the sea and rocks, with a small amphitheatre and a pedestrian staircase leading to the pier. An asphalt road provides access to Tyulenovo, although the access infrastructure is described as needing renovation.
